Football

I have to post pictures from Christmas and Hanukkah, but in the meantime here is a cute video that Popi took with his phone today. He and Ben went to the park and Ben had to run on "his" football field. There were a couple big kids throwing a football around and they were nice enough to include Ben.

Signs

In the week since Ben learned the "more" sign his sign language has really come along! He now knows help, all done, eat and oh no! He also does a sign for pirate (his favorite snack is Pirate's Booty). We're trying to add a couple every few days. I don't want to overwhelm or confuse him, but I also don't want to lose the momentum!

Ben seems to really enjoy signing and having a way to communicate better. This morning he came to me asking for help. I followed him and he showed me his toy cars had gone under the couch and he needed help getting them out. What an amazing difference!

Unfortunately his signing has come with some sleep regression! He just can't fall asleep on his own lately. I think his brain is processing so much new information it's hard for him to calm down and fall asleep.

Catching up...

I am way, way behind on my blog updates! We've had a very busy few months starting in mid-August when we moved to a new house. Then Ben turned 2 and we went to Disney World. Getting the house unpacked and keeping up with Ben have kept us very busy! I hope to post some new pictures soon but I wanted to write a little update on Ben at age 2.

He adjusted to the new house pretty quickly. He likes to play downstairs mostly which is good because we couldn't find a gate to fit the bottom of the stairs. He likes to throw and kick balls around the first floor and he has a few favorite toys right now like his See and Say and Leaptop. Ben surprised us a few weeks ago by showing us that he knows his numbers by pointing to the right number when asked. He can also "count" from 1 to 10 (and backwards) by pointing to numbers when they're in random order. He also knows his colors and we're working on his letters. Ben seems to understand more and more lately and he's been better at following directions (bring me your cup, shoes, etc.).

He loves to go to the playground near our house and play with other kids. We call him the "Mayor" of the playground because he likes to stand on one piece of equipment and wait for kids to come to him. He laughs and laughs when they come up to him. He is a very social little guy at the playground.

He continues to be a good, but picky eater. He doesn't like to try new foods so we stick with his favorites. I was worried about what he would eat when we went to Disney World because I wouldn't be able to prepare his usual meals but he did great and finally started eating chicken! In the past couple of months he has gotten much better about eating out at restaurants.

Ben seems to be developing some fears for the first time. For about 2 weeks he was scared to take a bath and lately he's had a hard time falling asleep without us. Hopefully the sleep issues will pass soon.

Overall Ben is a pretty happy and healthy 2 year old!
