Sleep - Becca goes to bed between 7:30 and 8 and will usually sleep until 5ish, drinks a bottle and then sleeps until 7:30 or so. Lately with teething she's been waking earlier though and that is not a good thing because she is NOT a morning person. Once she's done with this bout of teething I'm going to work on dropping that 5am feeding because I know it's just habit at this point. Unfortunately her teeth move VERY slowly so it may be awhile. She still only has 2 bottom teeth but 3 top teeth have been poking out for 2 weeks now with barely any movement.
Her naps are a little inconsistent although she usually takes a nap around 10. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I have to wake her at 11 to go pick up Ben from school. So on those days she usually takes a quick afternoon nap too. Other days she skips the morning nap and takes a long early afternoon nap. She's pretty flexible though and as long as she is up by 3:30 or so it doesn't impact her night sleep.
Food - Becca got a slow start with baby food so I've been taking table food a little bit slower too. She does pretty well though and really likes feeding herself table food. She will feed herself baby food if it is in a squeezable packet and she can drink water independently out of a sippy cup. She transitioned from formula to milk with no problem and just like Ben she loves her milk.
Communication - It's hard to say if Becca has any real words at this point because sometimes she says things but she's not consistent. She does have 3 signs - more, all done and eat. She's also starting to point to where she wants to go/what she wants to play with. She will wave, clap, do high fives, play peek a boo, smack her lips together to make kiss sounds to Ben and blow kisses. She will point to things when asked. Becca is much more reserved than Ben was at this age (although I think most people are more reserved than Ben!). She is not really interested in smiling at strangers and will stare them down. Some of our neighbors have said that they've never heard her make a sound (which is funny because she has the loudest cry I've ever heard).
Playing - Becca likes to play with toys but she also really just likes exploring. She likes to play in the pantry taking things off the shelves. She also likes to pull all my books off the bookshelf. One of her favorite games to is crawl to the stairs and go up the first two steps and then laugh at me when I tell her to come down. She'll slide down on her belly and then do it again. She also really likes being chased. She likes to play with her baby doll and will feed the baby and give it hugs and kisses. She loves to listen to music and will bob up and down or move her arms from side to side to dance.
Becca isn't walking yet, but she can stand without holding on for about 30 seconds so I think she will be walking soon. If I try to get her to take steps on her own she will make a very controlled fall to the floor.
One of her absolute favorite activities is to take a bath. She is so happy splashing around in the tub. She's going to love the baby pool this summer. She likes to ride her baby bike outside but she's also a bit challenging because she will crawl on the ground and put grass/leaves/sticks in her mouth so I have to watch her really, really closely.
She loves playing with Ben but she does lose her patience with him when she's tired. He can almost always get her stop crying by singing to her. She is also a Daddy's girl and gets very excited when Josh comes home from work. She will complain until he picks her up.
In general, I love this age and can't wait to see what our little sweetie does next!
