Rebecca

Rebecca is already almost one month old!  It simultaneously feels like she's been part of our family forever but yet I can't believe a month has gone by!

Overall things are going well.  Becca is a good baby and thankfully sleeps very well at night.  She has a harder time napping during the day (probably because she sleeps so well at night!).  Most nights she goes to bed around 9-10 and will wake once between 3 and 5 to eat and then will go back to sleep for another few hours.  She never went through a day/night confusion phase.

She is a cluster feeder and has been since the minute she was born!  She will eat and eat until it seems like she can't possibly still be hungry and then she will eat more.  She is a slow eater though so sometimes feeding her can take a few hours!  She also likes her pacifiers.  It's funny how different she is from how Ben was.  He ate really quickly and hated pacifiers.  He was also easier to calm in other ways (rocking, shushing, etc.) and he loved to be swaddled tightly.  Becca is harder to calm without a bottle or pacifier and she hates having her arms tucked in the swaddle.  She also hates diaper changes and especially baths. 

Becca really loves when Josh talks to her.  Sometimes when she hears him in the room she will stop making noise and turn her head with her eyes open wide like she's listening to him.  We're also seeing the beginnings of smiles when he plays with her.

She is a strong baby and has had pretty good control of her neck since she was born.  She likes to sleep on her side and will inch her way over to the side of the co-sleeper or crib. A couple times it looked like she was close to rolling over. At her one week check-up when the doctor put her on her belly she got up on her knees like she was going to crawl.  I think she will be chasing after Ben in no time.

Ben absolutely loves his sister and wants to give her lots of kisses and hugs.  Of course we can't leave them alone together even for a second because he is not at all gentle with her.  He likes to help me with her by throwing away her dirty diapers.  :)  When she cries he goes to her and pats her head and says "it's ok Rebecca, I'm happy".  I always tell him that when he's happy I'm happy so I guess he thinks if he's happy she should be too.   He also tells me that "babies cry a lot".  Unfortunately he's been sick for most of her first month so it's been hard to encourage his excitement over her and also try to keep her healthy.
